If you are an artist and you love to create space-themed work, the Las Cruces Space Festival (LCSF) is looking for you! The festival’s theme this year is The Nature of Space.
Established in 2018, the festival features activities for all ages, including STEM-focused events and an annual art show. This year, the art show will be juried and featured at Gallery 925 from September 5 to 28, 2025. The gallery is at 925 N Mesquite St, Las Cruces, NM. All submitted work must be original and not been shown in any prior LCSF art shows. Paintings and other 2D work cannot exceed 30″ x 30″. Submissions of 3D work can’t exceed 6’tall x 30 “wide. There is a $20 submission fee, and artists may submit up to three pieces of artwork. The committee will accept submissions from June 1 to August 1, 2025. In addition to the Gallery 925 exhibition, there will be a Student Show at Duende Arte Gallery (located next door to Gallery 925.). This show is open to students in grades 6 through 12. There is no entry fee, and students may submit up to two pieces of artwork. The deadline is also August 1. Patrons will also see posters from the poster contest at this exhibition. This year’s winner of the poster contest is Miguel Perez, a 5th grader from Columbia Elementary School.
“The committee received over 100 submissions, and they were all amazing,” said Karen Conley, the committee’s art show coordinator. “We enjoy going through the submissions. It is tough to pick just one winner.”
The volunteer-led festival team collaborates with numerous partner organizations across the community – ranging from public schools, local universities and colleges, the space industry, arts, and cultural groups, and many others – to provide an event for people of all ages and interests. Space enthusiasts will once again have the opportunity to visit Spaceport America’s Open House on September 21, 2025. During the week, there will be numerous activities and culminate on STEAM Space Saturday during the Las Cruces Farmers & Craft Market on September 27, 2025.
