Kick off of World Space Week and Reimagine Space: New Mexico

REIMAGINE SPACE: NEW MEXICO is a statewide network of partner-led, space-inspired experiences presented during World Space Week which is an annual UN‑declared celebration held every 4–10 October to highlight the contributions of space science and technology to humanity.

The dates commemorate two milestones:

• 4 October 1957 – launch of Sputnik 1, the first human‑made satellite.
• 10 October 1967 – entry into force of the Outer Space Treaty.
