The third-annual Las Cruces Space Festival, due to return March 30- April 4, has been postponed. The Festival Executive Team met with City officials this morning to discuss possible dates for rescheduling the Festival later in the year.
“We held off until we were given the order from the Governor’s office to postpone the Festival” said Executive Director Alice Carruth. “It was the best decision to keep the containment of the virus to a minimum. The planning team have been working on this for a year and believe we have a strong line up of STEM activities for all ages, and look forward to bringing the Festival back in the fall. We hope to announce our new dates once we have spoken with all our partner organizations”
The New Mexico Health Department has advised against holding activities with an attendance of over 100 people in order to contain the threat of the COVID-19 virus.
The Las Cruces Space Festival mission is ‘Making Space for Everyone’. The Festival is free to participate in, and open to all, with the cost of activities, presentations, displays, and exhibits all covered by sponsors. We work with many partner organizations across the community – ranging from the public schools, local universities and colleges, space industry, arts, and cultural groups, and many others – to provide an event for people of all ages and interests. All sponsorship will be honored for our events later this year.
If you or your company are interested in sponsoring the 2020 Las Cruces Space Festival, our Executive Team would be happy to meet with you to discuss our sponsorship packages.
