The Las Cruces Space Festival 2019 is delighted to partner again with the Challenger Learning Center of Las Cruces. We will host seven simulated Mars missions during the 2019 Las Cruces Space Festival (one mission a day on April 8-12th, and two on April 13th).
Join us for an amazing and memorable experience as the Challenger Learning Center offers visitors possibly the next best thing to an actual space flight. The realistic Mission Control room was designed after NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, and the atmospheric space vehicle was modeled after a laboratory on the International Space Station. During each space mission, participants will work together to achieve mission goals, taking on roles such as scientists, engineers, mission control operators and many more. These experiences strengthen knowledge in STEM fields and space exploration, and are also great fun! From kindergartners to adults, space mission simulations are an adventure like no other – we look forward to flying with you!
Places are limited on the missions and, though free to participants, will require advanced registration. This was one of our most popular events last time around, so be sure to subscribe on our website to be notified when registration opens.
About the Challenger Center: The Challenger Center for Space Science Education is a United States 501 non-profit organization headquartered in Washington, DC. It was founded in 1986 to honor the crew of shuttle flight STS-51L that was tragically lost 73 seconds after lift-off. Challenger Learning Center of Las Cruces opened in 2015 and is a member of the international network of more than 40 Challenger Learning Centers that use space-themed simulation learning environments to engage participants in dynamic, hands-on opportunities.
